HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amendments to Artwork Agreements with David Dahlquist RESOLUTION NO. 99-464 RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENTS TO ARTWORK AGREEMENTS WITH DAVID DAHLQUIST FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,the City Council previously entered into several artwork agreements with David Dahlquist of Des Moines, and Mr. Dahlquist has proposed changes to two of these agreements; and, WHEREAS,the Main Street Art Agreement called for the project to be completed by December 31, 1999, at a cost of$33,000, with the final $9,000 to be paid after its completion; and, WHEREAS, the mural on the south side of the wall facing Tom Evans Plaza is not yet completed, and an addendum extending the date to January 31, 2000, is appropriate; and, WHEREAS,Mr. Dahlquist has also asked that$3,000 of the final $9,000 payment be released to him at this time to facilitate the cash flow on the project; and, WHEREAS,the Cy-Ride Art Agreement called for the creation of two sculptural steel planters and several 8"square shallow relief carved tiles to be installed in the concrete at two Cy-Ride bus stops to be completed by October 29, 1999,but due to the higher prioritization assigned to other projects,this artwork is not yet completed, and Mr. Dahlquist is asking that this Agreement be extended; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Dahlquist also desires to increase the size of the clay tiles to 12" square in order to better portray the historic themes. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that an amendment to the Main Street Art Agreement to extend the completion date to January 31,2000,and to authorize a payment to David Dahlquist of$3,000 (to be deducted from the final $9,000 payment) is approved; and an amendment to the Cy-Ride Art Agreement to extend the completion date to May 1, 2000, and to approve the usage of 12" square carved tiles is approved.
