HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving TSIP Grant Submittal for Traffic Signals at 13th Street/Northwestern RESOLUTION NO. 99-455 RESOLUTION APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR TRAFFIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (TSIP) FUNDING FOR A 13TH STREET/NORTHWESTERN AVENUE TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, included in the proposed 2000/01 Capital Improvements Plan is a project to install traffic signals at the 13th Street/Northwestern Avenue intersection; and, WHEREAS, the 13th Street/Northwestern Avenue intersection has been prioritized highly for traffic signals due to the high number of accidents and volumes at the intersection; and, WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the 13th Street/Northwestern Avenue traffic signal is $113,000 with the eligible material costs that would be covered by the TSIP grant being $66,255; and, WHEREAS,the remainder of the cost for the traffic signal, $46,745,would be borne by the City and paid from Road Use Tax funds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the Traffic Safety Improvement Program grant submittal of$66,255 for the installation of traffic signals at the 13th Street/Northwestern Avenue intersection is hereby approved.
