RESOLUTION APPROVING IOWA DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION FEDERAL-AID STP FUNDING AGREEMENT
FOR THE 13TH STREET RESURFACING PROJECT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS,this Project is included in the CIP as the 1999/00 Arterial Street Rehabilitation Program;
and,
WHEREAS,this annual program is designed to restore structural integrity,serviceability,and rideability,
and to extend the useful service life of these streets; and,
WHEREAS, construction on 13th Street will include edge milling at the gutter line, replacement of
intakes,replacement and adjustment of manhole castings, and a 2"ACC overlay; and,
WHEREAS, the side street connections will be reconstructed or overlaid to the radius point of the
intersections; and,
WHEREAS,this work will be eligible for reimbursement in accordance with the funding agreement;and,
WHEREAS,also included in the plans will be the reconstruction of Ridgewood Avenue from Orchard
Drive to 13th Street,however,that portion is not eligible for federal funds; and,
WHEREAS,under the Agreement, 80%of construction costs on 13th Street will be reimbursed by the
Iowa DOT with Federal STP funds to a maximum of$200,000; and,
WHEREAS,the 20%local match and 100%of the construction costs beyond the federal maximum will
be financed by the City with General Obligation Bonds; and,
WHEREAS,the Engineer's Estimate for construction costs for 13th Street is$335,000 and$35,000 for
the reconstruction of Ridgewood Avenue with engineering/administration costs estimated at$30,000; and,
WHEREAS, financing is budgeted in the Capital Improvements Plan for $200,000 from General
Obligation Bonds and$200,000 from Federal STP funds(IDOT).
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the Iowa
Department of Transportation Federal-Aid STP Funding Agreement for the 13th Street Resurfacing(400'west
of Crescent Street to Grand Avenue)Project is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 9th day of November, 1999.
