RESOLUTION APPROVING$8,256 FROM THE
CONTINGENCY FUND FOR OPERATING COSTS
OF INFORMATION KIOSK IN FISCAL YEAR 1999/2000
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, a federal grant has been secured from the State Library totaling$38,500 for an
informational kiosk; and,
WHEREAS, realizing that not all Ames' citizens have access to community information
through the City's web site, the City agreed to support the operational costs for this experiment in
the first year of its existence; and,
WHEREAS, unfortunately, the kiosk was not placed in its ultimate location, HyVee West,
until September 1998, and it did not function properly for a number of months; and,
WHEREAS,the City did not have sufficient time to evaluate this device in 1998/1999;and,
WHEREAS, staff is requesting that City Council pay for the operational costs of the kiosk
through the end of FY 1999/2000, to wit, $8,256, to be expensed from the Contingency Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the expenditure of $8,256 from the Contingency Fund to pay the operational costs of the
information kiosk at the HyVee West for FY 1999/2000 is hereby approved.
