HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving Financial Commitment to Iowa Special Olympics in the Amount of $2,500 and Recommending Matching Funds be Committed by the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau RESOLUTION NO. 99-4 84 RESOLUTION APPROVING FINANCIAL COMMITMENT TO IOWA SPECIAL OLYMPICS IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,500 AND RECOMMENDING MATCHING FUNDS BE COMMITTED BY THE AMES CONVENTION &VISITORS BUREAU WHEREAS, the City has received a letter from the Executive Director of the Iowa Special Olympics requesting a financial contribution in the amount of$5,000; and, WHEREAS, each May, this event draws 3,200 athletes, their families and friends, to our City; and, WHEREAS, joint participation among the City of Ames and the Convention & Visitors Bureau to provide local financial support for this event is justified. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that a financial commitment of$2,500 is approved to be expended from the FY 1998/99 hotel/motel tax balance and a recommendation made for the Ames Convention&Visitors Bureau to match the City's contribution.
