HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving Particiption Power Interchange Agreement Between the City of Ames Municipal Electric System and Muscatine Power and Water RESOLUTION NO. 99-164 RESOLUTION APPROVING PARTICIPATION POWER INTERCHANGE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF AMES MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC SYSTEM AND MUSCATINE POWER AND WATER WHEREAS,an Integrated Resource Planning Study adopted by City Council recommended that the most cost-effective method for obtaining additional capacity was through the installation of a 20 MW peaking unit-- a combustion turbine generator; and, WHEREAS,the purchase of a combustion turbine generator was included in the CIP,but for the past three years,the City has been able to meet the combined energy needs of the City and ISU by supplementing our installed capacity with a contract to purchase power from the Cedar Falls Utility; and, WHEREAS, the City's agreement with Cedar Falls Utility will expire this year and Cedar Falls does not have surplus capacity to offer; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, ADOPTED THIS 11 th day of May, 1999.
