RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PHASE I
ANNEXATION STUDY FOR THE WESTERN FRINGE AREA
OF THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, in September 1998, the City Council directed that a Phase I Study of potential
annexation in any of four identified areas be conducted; and,
WHEREAS,this Study has been developed with the assistance of Snyder&Associates who have
been retained by the City to provide planning services as needed; and,
WHEREAS,the Annexation Study contains the following recommendations: (1)that the Phase H
Study of the Southwest Growth Area proceed immediately,and(2)that the Phase II Study of the Boundary
Adjustment Area proceed immediately; and,
WHEREAS,the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended that the Phase I Annexation Study
for the Western Fringe Area be approved; and,
WHEREAS,at their meeting of May 11, 1999,the City Council directed that the Annexation Study
include the area from Grand Avenue west to George Washington Carver and bounded on the north by Moose
Road; and,
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the
Phase I Annexation Study for the Western Fringe Area is hereby approved; authorization is hereby given
for the Annexation Study to be expanded to include the area from Grand Avenue west to George
Washington Carver and bounded on the north by Moose Road; and direction is hereby given to proceed
immediately with the Phase II Study of the Southwest Growth Area,the Boundary Adjustment Area, and
the area from Grand Avenue west to George Washington Carver and bounded on the north by Moose Road.
ADOPTED THIS 1 Ith day of May, 1999.
