HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Accepting Railroad Construction at Barilla America, Inc. RESOLUTION NO. 99-103 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING RAILROAD CONSTRUCTION AT BARILLA AMERICA, INC. FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, as part of the economic incentive package for Barilla,the City applied for and received a Rail Economic Development Grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation(IDOT); and, WHEREAS,the Grant was to reimburse 79%of the construction costs up to a maximum of $100,000,00; and, WHEREAS, the City agreed to contribute $20,000 of Local Option Sales Tax funds as the match to the Grant; and, WHEREAS, Railroad Service, Inc., has completed the construction of two turnouts and 1,075.5 feet of rail track on the Barilla site; and, WHEREAS,the Union Pacific Railroad has accepted the spur line for use with its rail cars, and the City and IDOT have accepted the work. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the completion of the rail construction at Barilla America,Inc., is hereby approved and staff is authorized to make payment to Barilla in the amount of$120,000.
