HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Mayor to Sign Contracts with Participating Businesses in Connection with the City's Floodwall and Backwater Valve Construction Program RESOLUTION NO. 99-95 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING MAYOR TO SIGN CONTRACTS WITH PARTICIPATING BUSINESSES IN CONNECTION WITH THE CITY'S FLOODWALL AND BACKWATER VALVE CONSTRUCTION PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the City has received three grants from the Iowa Emergency Management Division for the construction of floodwalls and the installation of backwater valves for eligible businesses in the floodplain in Ames in the total amount of$1,909,129; and, WHEREAS, these monies are for assisting with the possibility of up to 75% of the cost of the construction and installation of floodwalls and backwater valves at individual businesses; and, WHEREAS, the matching monies of $636,375 (25%) are being provided by the businesses/property owners; and, WHEREAS, as part of this Program,the City of Ames and the businesses/property owners will sign an agreement that will designate the maximum amount to be paid by the City of Ames and the amount to be paid by the business. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign grant agreements in connection with the City of Ames Floodwall and Backwater Valve Program to assist businesses in the floodplain in Ames.
