HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Approving Naming Opportunities at Bandshell Park RESOLUTION NO. 99-45 RESOLUTION APPROVING NAMING OPPORTUNITIES AT BANDSHELL PARK FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the Bandshell Restoration Committee (BRC) is attempting to raise approximately$460,000 through private contributions to renovate the lower level of the Bandshell building into a community room and to install landscaping; and, WHEREAS, since beginning their efforts in 1996,BRC has raised less than$100,000; and, WHEREAS, in an attempt to attract significant financial donors and complete their fundraising efforts,BRC has proposed naming the Bandshell building in recognition of a minimum contribution of$100,000 and are requesting approval for other naming opportunities which include the lower level community room, kitchen area, granite plaques in a walkway, benches, trees, etc.; and, WHEREAS, naming opportunities have become a popular method of raising private contributions to help finance public sector projects; and, WHEREAS,the City does not have formal guidelines established regarding naming parkland, facilities, or amenities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the philosophy of allowing general naming opportunity projects as a method of raising private contributions to help finance public sector projects is hereby approved.
