HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Project Grant Agreement for the Phase II Flood Mitigation Assistance Program Between the Iowa Emergency Management Division and the City of Ames RESOLUTION NO. 99-29 RESOLUTION APPROVING PROJECT GRANT AGREEMENT FOR THE PHASE II FLOOD MITIGATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM BETWEEN THE IOWA EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIVISION AND THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, the City of Ames has been awarded a Flood Mitigation Assistance Phase II (FMA) grant from the Iowa Emergency Management Division (IEMD) for the protection of four commercial properties with floodwalls and backwater valves in the amount of$117,270; and, WHEREAS,the grant is a matching program of 75%federal and 25%local monies,making the City of Ames' match amount being in the amount of$39,030; and, WHEREAS,the local match will be comprised ofthose construction costs and administrative costs which are above the federal matching monies associated with each of the project; and, WHEREAS, depending on the individual businesses' desires on floodwall designs, overall costs may exceed 25% of the total, and the property owner would pay these costs; and, WHEREAS, the four properties identified by IEMD to be best served by the floodwater/backwater value program are located at 505 S. Duff Avenue, 538 S. Duff Avenue; 705 S. Duff Avenue, and 1003 E. Lincoln Way; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the contract between the Iowa Emergency Management Division and the City of Ames for the Phase II Flood Mitigation Assistance Program is hereby approved.
