RESOLUTION APPROVING FIFTH STREET
ARTWORK CONTRACT WITH DAVID DAHLQUIST
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS,the City Council recently authorized acceptance of a grant agreement with the
Department of Cultural Affairs for creation of public art along Fifth Street and Main Street; and,
WHEREAS, the grant award was based upon a proposal prepared by the Public Art
Commission and artist David B. Dahlquist; and,
WHEREAS, approval of the Fifth Street artwork contract will authorize Mr. Dahlquist to
create 30 terra cotta fired clay panels which will be installed in 15 brick piers on street corners along
Fifth Street; and,
WHEREAS, the cost of the Fifth Street artwork is $17,000; however, per a previous
agreement with Mr. Dahlquist, $3,000 previously paid to him for design of this artwork will be
credited towards the $17,000 cost.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the artwork contract between David B. Dahlquist and the City of Ames for creation of 30 terra
cotta fired clay panels under the terms listed above is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 26th day of January, 1999.
