RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF
TUCKPOINTING&RELATED REPAIRS FOR
CITY HALL BUILDING
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain
improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the
Tuckpointing & Related Repairs for City Hall Building; and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were
received on the 25th day of November, 1998,as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared
by the City of Ames Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 30th day of October, 1998;
and,
WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Midland Restoration Company,
Inc., of Fort Scott, Kansas,in the amount of$23,340 (plus $20/each to remove, clean, and relay bricks, and
$18/each to remove and replace defective or missing bricks) is the lowest and best bid submitted for the
construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS,contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said
contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,as follows:
Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Midland Restoration Company, Inc.,
of Fort Scott,Kansas,in the amount of$23,340(plus$20/each to remove,clean,and relay bricks,and
$18/each to remove and replace defective or missing bricks), dated the 8th day of December, 1998,
for the construction of the Tuckpointing&Related Repairs for City Hall Building as provided for in
the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof,and the performance bond of
the said contractor with Amwest Surety Insurance Company of Calabasas, CA,as surety thereon, in
the amount of$23,340 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the
extend of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 26th day of January, 1999.
