HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Acceptance of $15,000 Iowa Community Cultural Grant for Downtown Artwork RESOLUTION NO. 99-015 RESOLUTION APPROVING ACCEPTANCE OF $15,000 IOWA COMMUNITY CULTURAL GRANT FOR DOWNTOWN ARTWORK FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,on October 13, 1998,the City Council approved an Iowa Community Cultural Grant application in the amount of$25,000 for downtown art by David Dahlquist; and, WHEREAS, this Grant request was recently approved in the amount of$15,000; and, WHEREAS, in order to accept this Grant, the City must enter into an agreement with the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs; WHEREAS,the downtown artwork proposed by David Dahlquist will cost$50,000,and due to the shortfall in grant funding, an additional $10,000 must now be identified from other sources; and, WHEREAS, the Public Art Commission recommends that monies previously allocated to other public art budget accounts be reallocated to increase the local match from$25,000 to$35,000; and, WHEREAS, the local match for this grant also includes $40,000 from the 5th Street Improvement Project for the brick monuments. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the agreement with the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs for a $15,000 Iowa Community Cultural Grant for downtown artwork with local match funding to come from a reallocation of public art monies is hereby approved. ADOPTED THIS 12th day of January, 1999. Diane R.
