REVISED COUNCIL ACTION FORM
SUBJECT: PLAT OF SURVEY FOR 300,306 &312 ABRAHAM DRIVE
BACKGROUND:
This "Revised Council Action Form" is a supplement to the original Action Form
with information to explain revisions proposed by the applicant, Robert Staggs, to the
proposed Plat of Survey (POS). This morning, Mr. Staggs, submitted revisions to the
previous POS that was provided to the City Council on Friday, May 9, in their Council
agenda packet.
In the revisions to the proposed POS, the applicant is widening Parcel "A" by eight feet.
The additional lot width of eight feet is needed for the proposed garage addition on Parcel
"A" to meet the minimum required side yard setback. The property owner wishes to
construct an addition to the attached garage to add two additional stalls to the existing
single-car garage. With this change to the POS, proposed Parcels "B" and "C" will be
smaller than originally proposed; however, the revised dimensions of both parcels meet
the minimum lot width and lot area standards for the RL (Residential Low Density) zone.
A copy of the revised Plat of Survey and legal descriptions for the three parcels is attached
to this report.
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDED ACTION:
The City Manager recommends that the City Council approve the Plat of Survey for the
properties located at 300, 306 and 312 Abraham Drive, with the revisions in parcel
dimensions shown in the Revised Plat of Survey (Attachment B).

Surveyor's Report:
The owner of Lots 8.9 and 10,except the West 20 feet thereof,in Block 2 of H.C.
Nowlin's Subdivision,which make up all of the land included in Parcels A,B and C of
this survey.has given testimony that,at some point in the past,heavy equipment used
for moving in a house on Lot 7 disturbed the location of the corner monuments marking
the North line of Lot 8.Although it is best surveying practice to accept found monuments
where they lay,this surveyor felt that these monuments had been moved far enough to
disregard their current location relative to adjoining,undisturbed monuments.New
monuments were set in those locations in accord with best measurements to adjoining
corners.
The Ames City Council approved this Plat of Survey on __.-.,2014,with
Resolution No.__.__.-_ I certify that it conforms to all conditions for approval.
