AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 25 ON TRAFFIC OF THE MUNICIPAL
CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 25-105. 17
TO 25-105. 79 INCLUSIVE AND SECTIONS 25-101. 5, 25-101. 8 TO 25-101. 12
INCLUSIVE, AND 25-101.15 THEREOF;AND DESIGNATING STREETS WHERE
PARKING IS PROHIBITED, AND DESIGNATING ADDITIONAL STREETS WHERE
PARKING IS LIMTED TO NINETY (90) MINUTES.
Be It Ordained By The City Council of The City of Ames, Iowa, as follows:
Section 1. That Sections 25-105. 17 to 25-105. 79 inclusive 6f the Mun-
icipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa, be and the same are hereby repealed,
and the following be and the same is hereby enacted in lieu thereof to be known
as Section 25-105. 17 and subparagraphs (1) to (63) inclusive thereof of the
Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa:
25-105. 17. Parking is hereby prohibited at all times, except
as may be otherwise provided in the subparagraphs following,
on the streets of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows:
(1) Allen Drive on both sides.
(2) Ash Avenue on the east side from Lincoln Way to Knapp Street.
(3) Baker Street on the north side from Stanton Avenue to
Lynn Avenue.
(4) Beech Avenue on both sides from Lincoln Way to the south
line of Sunset Drive.
(5) Brookridge Avenue on the west side from Sixth Street to
Ninth Street, and on the east side thereof from the north line of
Sixth Street north a distance of fifty (50) feet.
(6) Campus Avenue, on the west side from Lincoln Way to
Oakland Street.
(7) Chamberlain Place on both sides.
(8) Clark Avenue on the west side from Sixth Street to Seventh
Street, and on the west side thereof from Fifth Street to Sixth Street
between the hours of seven (7) o'clock A. M. and six (6) o'clock
P. M. , Monday through Friday except holidays, from September first
through June fifteenth of each school year, except in taking on or
discharging passengers or freight, and then only for such purpose,
and within seventy-five (75) feet on each side of the main entrance
to the public school abutting on the west side of said Clark Avenue.
(9) Colorado Avenue on the west side from Lincoln Way to
West Street.
(10) Curtiss Avenue on the east side from Tenth Street to
Sixteenth Street.
(11) Donald Street on the north side from Stanton Avenue
to Ash Avenue.
(12) Douglas Avenue on the east side from Sixth Street to
Seventh Street, and from Eleventh Street to Twelfth Street.
(13) Duff Avenue on the west side from Sixth Street to
Thirteenth Street, and on the east side thereof from Thirteenth
Street to Twentieth Street, and on both sides of South Duff
Avenue from Lincoln Way to the South corporate limits. .
(14) Forest Glen on the east side from Woodland
Street to Oakland Street.
(15) Franklin Avenue on the west side from Woodland
Street to Lincoln Way, and on the west side of South Franklin
Avenue from Lincoln Way to Coy Street.
(16) Gilchrist Street on the north side.
(17) Grand Avenue on both sides from Lincoln Way to
Thirteenth Street.
(18) Gray Avenue on the west side from Greeley Street
to Sunset Drive.
(19) Greeley Street on the north side for a distance of
thirty (30) feet on each side of the driveway located between
2125 Greeley Street and 318 Pearson Avenue, and at the curb
forming the island in the intersection of Greeley Street and
Pearson Avenue, and at the curb forming the island at the
intersection of Greeley Street and Gray Avenue.
(20) Harding Avenue on the east side from Tenth Street
to Sixteenth Street.
(21) Hawthorne Avenue onthe east side from Woodland
Street to Oakland Street.
(22) South Hazel Avenue on the west side from Lincoln
Way to South Fourth Street, and on the east side in front of
the entrance to Whittier School for a distance of forty (40)
feet.
(23) Hillcrest Avenue on the east side from Woodland
Street to West Street.
(24) Hughes Avenue on the north- side from Ash Avenue
to Graeber Street.
(25) Hyland Avenue on the west side from Lincoln Way
to West Street, and on the east side thereof from West Street
to Sheldon Avenue.
(26) South Kellogg Avenue, except Sundays, on the east
side from Lincoln Way to South Second Street.
(27) Knapp Street on the south side from Ash Avenue to
Stanton Avenue.
(28) Lee Street on the north side from Brookridge Avenue
to Ridgewood Avenue.
(29) Lettie Street on the north side from South Wilmoth
Avenue to State Avenue.
(30) Lincoln Way on both sides except that portion between
Stanton Avenue and Hayward Avenue.
(31) Lynn Avenue on both sides from Lincoln Way to Knapp
Street, and on the west side thereof from Knapp Street to Storm Street.
(32) Main Street on the south side from Duff Avenue east to
the end of Main Street.
(33) South Maple Avenue on the east side from Lincoln Way
to South Fourth Street.
(34) Marston Avenue on the east side from Tenth Street to
Sixteenth Street.
(35) Northwestern Avenue on the west side from Main Street
to Sixth Street.
(36) Oakland Street on the north side from Hyland Avenue to
Oliver Avenue.
(37) Oliver Avenue on the west side from Woodland Street to
Oakland Street.
(38) Orchard Drive on the east side.
(39) Ridgewood Avenue on the east side from Sixth Street to
Ninth Street, and on the east side thereof from Thirteenth Street
to the south line of Crescent Street.
(40) Roosevelt Avenue on the west side from Ninth Street
to Thirteenth Street.
(41) South Russell on the east side from Lincoln Way to
South Fourth Street.
(42) Sheldon Avenue on the east side from Lincoln Way to
Hyland Avenue, and on the east side of South Sheldon Avenue from
Lincoln Way to the south line of Arbor Street, and on the west side
of South Sheldon Avenue from Lincoln Way south to a distance of
forty (40) feet south of the east entrance to Welch School.
(43) South Sherman Avenue on the west side from Lincoln
Way to South Third Street.
(44) Stafford Avenue on the east side from Eleventh Street
to Sixteenth Street.
(45) Stanton Avenue on both sides from Lincoln Way to
the south line of the Fourth Ward Parking Lot No. 2, and on the
east side thereof from the south line of said parking lot to
Knapp Street, and on the west side thereof from Knapp Street
to Storm Street.
(46) Storm Street on the south side from Welch Avenue
to Ash Avenue.
(47) Sunset Drive at the curb forming the island in the
intersection of Sunset Drive and Pearson Avenue, and at the
curb forming the two islands in the intersection of Sunset
Drive and Gray Avenue.
(48) Welch Avenue on the west side from Chamberlain
Street to Knapp Street.
(49) West Street on the north side from Sheldon Avenue
to the east line of Howard Avenue.
(50) Westwood Drive on the north and west sides from
Oliver Avenue to Woodland Street.
(51) Wilmoth Avenue on the east side from Lincoln Way
to West Street, and on South Wilmoth Avenue on the east side from
Lincoln Way to Morningside Street.
(52) Wilson Avenue on the west side from Fifth Street to
Sixth Street.
(53) Woodland Street on the north side from Franklin
Avenue to West Street.
(54) South Second Street on the south side from South
Riverside Drive to South Oak Avenue, and on the south side
thereof from Duff Avenue west to the north-south alley between
Duff Avenue and Sherman Avenue.
(55) South Third Street on the north side from South
Russell Avenue to South Maple Avenue.
(56) Sixth Street on the South side from Duff Avenue to
the west side of Brookside Park, and on the north side thereof
from the Chicago and Northwestern Railway Company's right-
of-way east for a distance of one hundred(100) feet.
(57) Ninth Street on the north side from Maxwell Avenue
to Brookridge Avenue.
(58) Tenth Street on the north side from Duff Avenue to
Northwestern Avenue, and on the south side thereof for a
distance of seventy-five (75) feetin both directions east and west
from the intersection of Grand Avenue, and on the south side
thereof from the west line of Lot Nine, Block Two, Baird's
Addition to the City of Ames, Iowa, to Roosevelt Avenue between
the hours of seven (7) o'clock A. M. and six (6) o'clock P. M.
(59) East Eleventh Street on the north side from Duff Avenue
to Maxwell Avenue.
( 60) Twelfth Street on the north side from Grand Avenue to
Northwestern Avenue, and on the south side thereof for a distance
of fifty (50) feet west of the west line of Grand Avenue.
(61) Thirteenth Street on the north side from the east corporate
limits to Grand Avenue and from Ridgewood Avenue west to Iowa
State University land.
(62) Sixteenth Street on the north side from Carr Drive to
Ridgewood Avenue.
(63) Twentieth Street on the south side from Grand Avenue
to Duff Avenue.
Section 2. That Sections 25-101. 5, 25-191. 8, 25-101. 94 25-101. 10,
25-101. 11, 25-191. 12 and 25-101. 15 of the Municipal Code of the City of
Ames, Iowa be and the same are hereby repealed, and the following be and
the same are hereby enacted to be known as Sections 25-101. 5 and 25-101. 12
respectively of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames,, Iowa:
25-101. 5. Parking is limited to ninety (90) minutes on the
north side of Main Street from Duff Avenue to the east end
of Main Street as provided in Section 25-101.
25-101. 12. Parking is limited to ninety (90) minutes on the
west side of Hayward Avenue from Lincoln Way to Chamberlain
Street as provided in Section 25-101.
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as provided by law.
