ORDINANCE NO. 977
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 25 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF
THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA BY PROVIDING FOR THE USE OF A KEY TO
GAIN ADMITTANCE TO THE THIRD WARD PARKING LOT NO. 1 AND THE
RENTAL OF PARKING SPACE THEREIN.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That Chapter 25 of the Municipal Code of the City of
Ames, Iowa be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto the
following to be known as Section 25-111. 8A of the Muunicipal Code of the
City of Ames, Iowa:
25-111. 8A The entrance gate at Third Ward Parking Lot No. 1
may be opened at all times during the 24-hour period of the day
by use of a key to admit one vehicle only. Such key may be ob-
tained at the office of the City Clerk by the payment of a monthly
rental charge of $2. 50, payable monthly in advance at the office
of the City Clerk. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or
corporation to have in possession any such key without having
paid the current monthly rental charge, provided, however, that
such possession shall not apply to the spouse, children or em-
ployees of any person, firm or corporation having paid the current
monthly rental charge.
The City Manager shall have the authority to reserve, by
appropriate signs, an area in said parking lot for the exclusive
use of keyholders as contemplated herein, and any person, firm
or corporation having paid the current monthly rental charge
shall be entitled to one parking space in such reserved area in
said parking lot. It shall be unlawful for any such person, firm
or corporation to use more than one space in such reserved area
for each such key lawfully in possession, or for any person,
firm or corporation to park a vehicle in such reserved area
without having such a key lawfully in his possession.
Section 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. ' That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after it s passage and publication as provided by law.

Moved by Lawlor and seconded by Schilletter the rules governing
the passage of ordinances be suspended, the third reading be
omitted, and Ordinance No. 977 be placed on its final passage.

Mayor Pro Tem Judge declared Ordinance No. 977 duly adopted.

certify that the above and foregoing Ordinance No. 977 was duly
and properly passed at a meeting of the City Council on the 18th
day of October, 1960, and published in the Ames Daily Tribune on
the 21st day of October, 1960.
