AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 25 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 25-117 THEREOF:; PRO-
HIBITING THE USE OF SLUGS IN PARKING METERS; DESIGNATING STREET
WHERE PARKING IS PROHIBITED; AND DESIGNATING A ONE-WAY ALLEY.
Be It Ordained By The City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows:
Section 1. That Chapter 25 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames,
Iowa, be and the same is hereby amended by repealing Section 25-117 thereof
and enacting the following in lieu thereof to be known as Section 25-117 of the
Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa;
25-117 Slugs and Counterfeit Coins. It shall be unlawful
for any person to deposit, or cause to be deposited, in any
parking meter any slug, device or substitute for a one (1)
cent, a five (5)-cent, a ten (10)-cent or a twenty-five (25)
cent coin of the United States of America.
Section 2. That Chapter 25 of the Municipal Code of the City of Arne s,
Iowa be and the same is hereby amended by adding the following sections
thereto to be known as Sections 25-105. 77 and 25-105. 78 respectively of the
Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa:
25-105. 77 Parking is hereby prohibited at all times on the
West side of South Hazel Avenue from Lincoln Way to South
Second Street.
25-105. 78 Parking is hereby prohibited at all time s on the
east side of South Hazel Avenue in front of the entrance to
Whittier School for a distance of forty (40) feet.
Section 3. That Chapter 25 of the Municipal Code of the City of Arm s,
Iowa, be and the same is hereby amended by adding the following Section theret
to be known as Section 25-38. 6 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa
25-38. 6. The alley between Ninth Street and Tenth Street from
Wilson Avenue to Grand Avenue is hereby designated as "one-way"
and it shall be unlawful to enter except from the east.
Section 4. That all Ordinances, or parts of Ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 5. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and publication as provided by law.

974 be passed on its first reading.

Moved by Ratterree and seconded by Brouhard the rules governing
the passage of ordinances be suspended, the second and third
readings be omitted, and Ordinance No. 974 be placed on its final
passage.

Moved by Ratterree and seconded by Lawlor that Ordinance No. 974
do now pass.

Mayor De Hart declared Ordinance No. 974 duly adopted.

certify that the above and foregoing Ordinance No. 974 was duly
and properly passed at a meeting of the City Council on the 20th
day of September, 1960, and published in the Ames Daily Tribune
on the 24th day of September, 1960.
