AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTIONS 59-22 and 59-23 OF CHAPTER 59 OF
THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMESs IOWA AND ENACTING IN LIEU
THEREOF NEW SECTIONS 59-22 and 59-23 PROVIDING FOR HOURS OF
MR14PING OF GARBAGE AND REFUSE AT DISPOSAL SITES: ESTABLISHMENT OF
SANITARY LAND FILL AREAS: AND ALSO A SYSTEM OF FEES FOR DEPOSITING
REFUSE AND GARBAGE THEREIN.
Be It Ordained By The city Council of The City of Ames, Iowa, as
Follows:
Section 1. That Section 59-22 of The Municipal Code of the
City of Ames, Iowa, be and the same is hereby repealed and the
following is subrdtuted in place thereof to be known as Section
59-22 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa:
59-22. Hours of Dumping at Disposal Sites. The
hours when dumping of garbage and refuse at the disposal site3
shall be
permitted shall be Seven oAclock A.M. (7:00 )
to six o' clock P.M. (6:00 P M ) on week days and Saturdays,
and Seven O 'clock A.M. (7:K �.m. ) to Twelve o'clock noon
(12;00 noon) on sundays, and any dumping at any other
time is unauthorized and hereby prohibited.
Section 2. That Section 59-23 of the Municipal Code of the
City of Ames, Iowa, be and the same is hereby repealed and the
following is substituted in place thereof to be known as Section
59-23 of the Municipal Code of The City of Ames, Iowa;
59-23. Establishment of Sanitary Land Fill Areas.
There is hereby established sanitary land fill areas, at
such place or places as the city Council upon the re-
commendation of the City Manager Tnay directs where all
garbage and refuse originating within the corporate limits
of the City of Ames shall be deposited under the supervision
of the custodian of the area. It shall be unlawful to
deposit such material in any other place. The custodian
of the area may be named as a special police officer or
deputy sheriffs but he shall not be eligible to participate
in the health and retirement system of the police department
of the City of Antes. Such sanitary land fill areas are for
the exclusive use of the residents of the City of Ames
and said City reserves the right to refuse entrance to
any persons firm or corporation not located within the
City of Ames, Iowa.
59-23-1. Fees. Any persons firm or corporation,
not taxpayers of the City of Ames, Iowa, that desires to
deposit garbage and refuse in the sanitary land fill areas
shall be allowed to do so upon the payment in accordance
with the following schedule of fees:
For each private car without trailer .350
For each private car with trailer or attapickupched '5114
For each dump truck $ 1.50
For all other vehicles # 2.00
Such fees shall be paid in advance before any dumping and
shall be paid to the person or persons in charge of said
landfill area, provided however, that the above schedule

of fees shall not apply to any person, firm, or corporation
duly licensed under the provisions of this Chapter., and
provided further that any large non-taxpaying user of such
sanitary land fill areas may arrange with the City of Ames;
Iowa. for the use of such areas on an annual basis at a. C(--,e
to be determined on the pro rata share of the garbage and
refuse deposited and the cost of operating said areas.
59--23.2. Any person, firm or corporation duly
licensed under the provisions of this Chapter shall
monthly, on or before the 10th day of each and every
month, file a verified report in the office of the City
Clerk listing the names of each non-resident of the City
of Ames for whom such person, firm or corporation has
collected garbage and refuse and dumped same at such
sanitary land fill areas, and said licensee on the above
said date shall pay to the City Clerk a fee of
for each such customer listed.
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions hereof are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and publication as provided by law.

ing the passage of ordinances be suspended, the second and third
readings be omitted and Ordinance No. 940 be placed on its final
passage.
