AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 27 ON WATER RATES OF THE MUNICIPAL
CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 27-2 THEREOF
AND ESTABLISHING NEW CITY RATE OR CONTRACTUAL RATE SCHEDULE FOR
WATER SUPPLIED TO CONSUMERS BY THE 14ATER UTILITY OF THE CITY OF
AMES, IOWA.

Be It Ordained By The City/ of Ames, Iowa, as follows:
Section 1. That Section 27-2 of Chapter 27 on Water Rates
of the Municipal Code of The City of Ames, Iowa, be and the same
is hereby repealed as of the effective date of this ordinance
and the following shall be substituted in place thereof and shall
be known as Section 27-2 of Chapter 27 of the Municipal Code of
The City of Ames, Iowa:
27-2. City Rate or Contractual Rate Schedule.
The net amount to be charged for the use of water during
a meter reading interval of approximately thirty ( 30)
days, from each consumer' s meter within the corporate
limits of the City of Ames, or from any consumer with
whom the City of Ames shall have a written contract,
and connected to the water supply system of said City
shall be:
First 1,000 cubic feet of water used �'P`0.50 per
100 cubic feet.
Next 4,000 cubic feet of water used $0. 46 per
100 cubic feet.
Next 495,000 cubic feet of water used $0. 32 per
100 cubic feet.
All over 500,000 cubic feet of water used "0.25
per 100 cubic feet.
The above rates shall be based on the consumption of
water through one meter, except where a battery of
meters is installed in parallel, serving the same
function as a compound meter, fed by a single service
line from the main, and collected into a single header
within the building, the combined readings of these
several meters shall be used in computing the amount
to be charged.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and publication as provided by law.

passed on its first reading.

Moved by Judge and seconded by Lawlor that the rules governing the passage
of ordinances be suspended, the second and third readings be omitted and
Ordinance No. 900 be placed on its final passage.

Voting Nay: None
Absent: Arm strong
Moved by Lawlor and seconded by Schilletter that Ordinance No. 900 do
now pass.

Absent: Armstrong
Mayor Pro Tem Smith declared Ordinance No. 900 duly adopted.
I, J. W. Prather, City Clerk of the City of Ames, Iowa, do hereby certify
that the above and foregoing Ordinance No. 900 was duly and properly
passed at a meeting of the City Council on the 19th day of August, 1958
and published in the Ames Daily Tribune on the 23rd day of August, 1958.
