ORDINANCE NO. 897
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 28 ON SEWER SERVICE CHARGES OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTIONS
28-2 AND 28-4 THEREOF AND ESTABLISHING NEW RATES OF CHARGES, RATES
OR RENTALS FOR THE USE AND SERVICE RENDERED BY THE SANITARY
UTILITIES OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA.
Be It Ordained by the City Council of The City of Ames, Iowa As
Follows:
Section 1. That Section 28-2 of Chapter 28 on Sewer Service
Charges of the Municipal Code of The City of Ames, Iowa, be and
the same is hereby repealed and the following shall be sub-
stituted in place thereof and shall be known as Section 28-2
of Chapter 28 of the Municipal Code of The City of Ames, Iowa.
28-2. Schedule of Rates. Each and every lot,
parcel of real estate, building or premises, situated
within the corporate limits of the city, that is
connected with and uses the sanitary facilities of the
City of Ames, or that in any way uses or discharges
sanitary sewage, industrial waste, water or other
liquid,either directly or indirectly, into the sanitary
sewer system of said city shall pay monthly service
charges, rates or rentals to the City of Ames, in
accordance with the following schedule:
First 500 cubic feet of water used in one
cycle month - 20 cents ,per 100 cubic feet.
Between 500 and 1000 cubic feet of water used
in one cycle month - 16 cents per 100
cubic feet.
Between 1000 and 5000 cubic feet of water used
in one cycle month - 14 cents per 100 cubic
feet.
All over 5000 cubic feet of water used in one
cycle month - 10 cents per 100 cubic feet.
Minimum charge per thirty (30) daysperiod or
part thereof - $1.00.
Section 2. That Section 28-4 of Chapter' 28 on Sewer Service
charges of the Municipal Code of The City of Ames, Iowa, be and
the same is hereby repealed and the following shall be substituted
in place thereof and shall be known as Section 28-4 of Chapter 28
of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa.
28-4. Users Outside City. The schedule of monthly
service charges, rates or rentals for all classes of
users of the sanitary sewer system who are located out-
side the corporate limits of the City of Ames, and who
have been granted permission by said city to connect
to said system shall be in accordance with the following
schedule:
First 500 cubic feet of water used in one
cycle month - 40 cents per 100 cubic feet.
Between 500 and 1000 cubic feet of water
used in one cycle month - 16 cents per 100
cubic feet.
Between 1000 and 5000 cubic feet of water used
in one cycle month - 14 cents per 100 cubic
feet.

Minimum charge per thirty (30) days period or
part thereof - $2.00.
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in con-
flict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect after September 20, 1958 and from and after its passage
and publication provided by law.

passage of ordinances be suspended, the third reading be omitted and
Ord. No. 897 be placed on its final passage.
