HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amending Chapter 35 of Municipal Code (Platting) i 1 4 ORDINANCE NO. 889 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 35 ON PLATTING OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA BY REPEALING SECTION 35-13.2 THEREOF AND ENACTING A NEW SECTION 35-13.2 REQUIRING THE SUBDIVIDER TO PAY THE COSTS OF WATER MAIN EXTENSIONS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOv1A, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: That Section 35-13.2 of Chapter 35 on platting of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa. be and the same is hereby repealed and the following shall be substituted in place thereof and shall be known as Section 35-13.2 of Chapter 35 of the Municipal Code of the City of Ames, Iowa: 35-13.2 The owner of the land being platted shall at his expense construct a water main system to ade- quately serve all lots or parcels of land within the platted area and shall connect the same to the City' s existing water mains. Such water main system shall be constructed in accordance with plans and specifications of the City. The installation, construction and sterilization of such water mains shall be under the supervision and inspection of the City Manager, and the owner may be required to pay a reasonable charge for such engineerin.S, inspection and sterilization service. Said water mains shall, upon inspection, approval and acceptance by the City, become the property of the City. Section 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 3: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after passage and publication as provided by law. Passed this 22nd day of April 1958. 6d. Pra er, sty der _ - eagle P.
