HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amending Ordinance 773 (Garbage) • Alf ORDINANCE NO. 851 ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 773 BY PROVIDING FOR USE OF PACKER TYPE TRUCKS AND AUTOMATIC RENEWAL OF LICENSE OF HAULERS OPERATING UNDER SAID GARBAGE AND REFUSE COLLECTION ORDINAN CE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Section 15:.of Ordinance No. 773 is hereby repealed and the following shall hereafter be known as Section 15 of said Ordinance: Section 15: Condition of Vehicles. All vehicles used in the transportation of garbage and refuse within the city shall be kept in a sanitary condition and shall be so constructed as to prevent leakage in transit. The body of the truck shall be wholly enclosed or shall at all times while in transit be kept covered with an adequate cover, or canvas cover,provided with eyelets and rope for tying down. Loading of vehicles shall be done in such manner as to prevent spilling or loss of contents. On or after July 1, 1957, all persons licensed under the terms of this ordinance shall use packer type trucks for normal collection purposes. Section 2. Ordinance No. 773 is he-eby amended by adding the following section: Sectinn 13. Renewal of License. The annual license of all persons licensed under this ordinance shall be automatically renewed from year to year upon the payment of the fee herein provided, and filing of certificate of proper insurance coverage. Licenses may 1�oe revoked only upon compliance with the procedures set out at Sections No. 20 and 21 of this Ordinance. Section 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this amendment are hereby repealed. Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after passage and publication as provided by law. Passed this 3rd day of July, 1956. Prather, City Clerk J. P.
