AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TRAFFIC ORDINANCE #728 BY ADDING THERETO
SECTIONS 214.7 AND 214.8 AUTHORIZING TWO-MINUTE UNMETERED PARKING,
AND, STATING THE CONDITION THEREOF; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Ames,
Iowa, as follows :
SECTION 1 : Ordinance #728 is hereby amended by insert-
ing after Section 214.6, the following sections :-
SECTION 214.7 TWO-MINUTE UNMETERED PARKING:-
The-7 ty Manager may, with the consent of the
Council, designate the zone and order two-
minute unmetered parking during such portion
of the day as will expedite the movement of
vehicular traffic, on or across any street,
avenue, or alley within the parking meter
district.
SECTION 214.8 APPLICATION FOR 710-MINUTE
PARKING:- The proprietor of any real estate
within any parking meter district, desiring
unmetered two-minute parking in the street,
avenue, or alley abutting his real estate,
shall make a written proposal therefor to the
City Manager. If in the opinion of the City
Manager the request is reasonable and the
granting thereof will facilitate traffic, he
shall present such request and his recom-
mendation to the Council for its approval .
The granting of the request shall be contingen
iupon the proprietor agreeing to pay into the
parking meter fund yearly in advance a sum of
I money equivalent to the hourly charge for
parking, multiplied by the number of hours
per year during which two-minute unmetered
parking is in effect for each such parking
space . Meters involved shall be clearly
marked during this period when such unmetered
two-minute parking is applicable. The granting
of the application shall not preclude later
cancellation thereof, by Council action.
SECTION 2 : REPEAL. All ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3 : PUBLICATION. This ordinance shall be in ful
orce and effect from and after passage and publication
as provided by law.

passed on its final reading.

Mayor Lawlor declared Ordinance No. 830 duly adopted.
I, J. W. Prather, being the duly appointed, qualified, and acting City Clerk of
the City of Ames, Iowa, do hereby certify that the above and foregoing Ordinanc
No. 830 is a true and exact copy of said ordinance and that said ordinance
was passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa on
the 17th day of January, 1956 and published in the Ames Daily Tribune on the
20th day of Januar -,, 1956.
