ORDINANCE NO. 751
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PLATTING ORDINANCE NO. 693 BY REQUIRING
THE SUBDIVIDER TO RTOVIDE AND PAY THE COST OF THE EXTENSION
OF THE MUNICIPAL WATER SYSTEM TO AND WITHIN THE AREA PLATTED,
Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Ames , Iowa,
as follows:
Section 1: That Ordinance No. 693 is hereby amended by
inserting immediately after Section 1 (7) , as amended,
Section 1 (8) as follows:
Section 1 (8) : Extension of Water System in Platted
Areas within the City.
The owner of land being platted shall before the final
plat is accepted, enter into a contract with the City
for the extension of the municipal water system to
and within the platted area. The contract shall insur
the payment by the owner of the complete cost of the
installation of such water distribution system, in—
eluding trenching , water mains , valves , fittings and
fire hydrants according to the plans and specif ication�
of the City for such work and under the supervision
of the City Manager. When said contract is executed
the owner shall make a cash deposit with the City Clerk
in the amount equal to the estimated cost of constructing
such water system extension as determined by the City
Manager. Said deposit shall be used to defray the
cost of construction of such extension and any amount
in excess of the actual cost of construction shall be-
refunded by the City to the owner making such deposit.
The actual construction cost shall be based on the use
of six (6) inch water mains but the City reserves the
right to use mains of greater diameter , the payment
of the cost of such increase in main size to be at the
expense of the City. Upon completion, the City Manage
shall file with the City Clerk in duplicate a statemen
of the construction cost of such water main extension
and the City Clerk shall refund to the owner such
excess amount, if any, between the deposit amount and
the final cost as shown by the cost statement of the
City Manager.
Section 2: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict with the provisions of this amendment are hereby
repealed.
Section �: That this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and publication as pro—
vided by law.

its second reading.

the above and foregoing Ord. No. 751 was finally passed at a meeting of the
City Council on the 21st day of September, 1954 and published in Ames Daily
Tribune on the 23rd day of September, 1954.
