ORDINANCE NO. 744
ORDINANCE AMENDING PLATTING ORDINANCE NO. 693
Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of
Ames , Iowa, as follows :
SECTION 1: Section 1 (7) of Platting Ordinance No.
693 is hereby specifically repealed, and the fol-
lowing shall hereinafter be known as Section 1 (7)
of said ordinance.
Section 1 (7) : Disposal of sanitary sewage.
The owner of land being platted shall make
adequate provision for the disposal of sanitary
sewage from the platted area. He shall at his
expense construct a sanitary sewer system in-
cluding all necessary pumping stations , manholes ,
and other necessary appurtenances to provide for
the discharge of sanitary sewage from all lots
or parcels of land within the platted area to a
connection with the cityts sanitary sewers.
Such sewage system shall be constructed in ac-
cordance with the plans and specifications of
the city and at the sewer grades as established
by the city. The installation of such sewers
shall be under the supervision and inspection
of the city manager and the owner may be re-
quired to pay a reasonable charge for such
engineering and inspection service. In the
event that the sanitary sewer system afore-
mentioned has not been installed and accepted
by the city prior to the acceptance of the final
plat by the City Council , the owner shall before
final acceptance of the plat , file with the City
Clerk a corporate surety bond or make a cash
deposit with the City Clerk in an amount not
less than the City Ylanageris certified estimate
of cost of constructing such a system includ-
ing an estimated inspection charge. Such bond
or cash deposit shall be retained by the city
until the work is completed as a guarantee that
the work will be completed in an acceptable
manner within the time specified in the agreeme t
between the owner and the city as set forth in
Section 3 of this ordinance.
SECTION 2 : That all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict with the provisions of this amendment are
hereby repealed.

SECTION 3 : That this ordinance shall be in full fore
and effect from and after the passage and publication
as provided by law.
