HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Vacating Part of a Street in Edgewood Third Addition 5 ORDINANCE NO. 742 AN ORDINANCE VACATING PART OF A STREET IN EDGEWOOD THIRD ADDITION TO AMES, IOWA. Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Ames , Iowa: Section 1. That that part of West Street in Edgewood Third Addition to Ames , Iowa, lying West of the West line of Crane Avenue in said addition, is hereby determined unnecessary as a public street and is hereby ordered vacated and discontinue*; that said land , having been dedicated to the City of Ames for street purposes by Robert S. Crane, Mary Crane Douglas , and Helen Elizabeth. Crane Harsh, who still own adjacent property , should be reconveyed to said named owners. Section 2. That West Street lying East of the East line of Crane Avenue in Edgewood Third Addition, should be re— duced to a fifty foot street to conform to the established street line on the East line of Edgewood Third Addition; that that part of the said West Street lying East of the East line of Crane Avenue, not needed for a proposed projection of a street fifty feet in width to Crane Avenue is hereby determined unnecessary as a public street and is hereby ordered vacated and discontinued; that that part here vacated , lying North of said extension of West Street should be conveyed to Michael M. Wharton and Myrna M. Wharton, husband and wife, as Joint Tenants , owners of Lot 6 in Edgewood Third Addition, and that part lying South of said extension of West Street, should be conveyed to Robert S. Crane, Mary Crane Douglas , and Helen Elizabeth Crane Harsh, owners of the adjacent property on the South. Section 3 . That the mayor and the city clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute Quit Claim Deeds to the portion of street herein vacated to the parties as named in Sections 1 and 2 above. Section 4. That the city_ clerk is hereby authorized and directed to make a certified copy of this ordinance and to attach the same to said deeds. Section 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 6. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after passage and publication as provided by law. Passed this 16tt'day of February , 1954. W. PRATHER , CITY CLERK. . Lawlor , MAYOR.
