HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amending Ordinance 728 (Traffic and Parking) ORDINANCE NO. 733 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 728, AN ORDINANCE REGULATIN TRAFFIC AND PARKING UPON THE STREETS, AVENUES, ALLEYS, AND PUBLIC PLACES OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA BY INSERTING NEW SECTIONS 213.5 AND 205.51 aND BY AMENDING SECTIONS 205.37, 214.4, 214.5 AND 205.22 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA: Section 1. That Ordinance No. 728 is hereby amended by inserting immediately after Section 213.4 the following Section 213.5: Section 213.5: The North side of Sixth Street from the West line of Douglas Avenue to the East line of the North and South Alley between Douglas and Kellogg Avenues. Section 2. Section 205.37 of Ordinance No. 728 is hereby specifically repealed and the following shall hereinafter be known as Section 205.37: Section 205.37: Parking is hereby prohibited at all times on the East side of Douglas :A.v enue from the North line of Eleventh Street to the South line of Twelfth Street. Section 3. Section 214.4 of Ordinance N. 728 is hereby specifically repealed and the following shall hereinafter be known as Section 214.4 of Ordinance No. 728: Section 214.4: Kellogg Avenue from the North line of the Chicago and North Western Railway Companyts right-of-way to the South line of Sixth Street, except the north one hundred and ninety-two (192) feet thereof on the West side and the north one hundred and fifty (150) feet thereof on the East side of Kellogg Avene, except from the North line of the East and West alley between Fifth Street and Main Street to the South line of Fifth Street, and except the portions reserved for taxi stands and parking of official cars is hereby established as a sixty (60) minute parking meter zone. Section 4. Section 214.5 of Ordinance No. 728 is hereby specifically repealed and the following shall hereinafter be known as Section 214.5 of Ordinance No. 728: Section 214.5: Fifth Street from Duff Avenue to Burnett Avenue, except the space reserved for officials cars North of the City Hall , and except the South side of Fifth Street from the West lin of Kellogg _v enue to the East line of Burnett Avenue, is hereby designated as a sixty (60) minute parking meter zone. Section 5. Section 205.22 of Ordinance No. 728 is hereby specifically repealed and the following shall hereinafter be known as Section 205.22 of Ordinance No. 728: Section 205.22: Parking is hereby prohibited at all times on Lincoln Way except that portion between Stanton and Hayward Avenues, and except parking is permitted on Sundays only on the South side of Lincoln Way between Lynn and Stanton Avenues and between Hayward and Sheldon AVenues and ninety (90) minute parkin, is permitted as provided in Section 201.1 on the South side of Lincoln Way between Lynn and Stanton Avenues. Section 6: That Ordinance No. 728 is hereby amended by inserting immediately after Section 205.50 the following Section 205.51 : Section 205.51: Parking is hereby prohibited at all times on the We st side of Clark Avenue between the North line of Sixth St reet and the Sou h line of Seventh Street, except Sundays . Section 7. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with the rovisions of this amendment are hereby repealed. Section 8. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after assage and publication as provided by law. Passed this 19th day of May, 1953. J. W. PfaThery City Clerk W. L.
