ORDINANCE NO. 709 1
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 621 "AN ORDINANCE ESTA-
BLISHING CHARGES, RATES OR RENTALS FOR USE OF SERVICES
RENDERED BY THE SANITARY UTILITIES OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA,
AND PROVIDING RULES AND REGULATIONS THEREOF,"
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ofthe City of 11mes, Iowa:
Section 1. That Section 1 and Section 5 of Ordinance No. 621 of the
ordinances of the City of _ikmes, Iowa, are hereby specifically repealed and
that the following shall be hereinafter known as Section 1 and Section 5 of
Ordinance No. 621 :
"Section 1. That there is hereby established as just and equitable,
charges rates or rentals for the use and the service rendered by the
Sanitary Utilities of the City of Ames, Iowa.
Each and every lot, parcel of real estate, building or premises, situated
within the corporate limits of said City, that is connected with and uses
the sanitary facilities of the City of Ames, Iowa, or that in any way uses
or discharges sanitary sewage, industrial wastq, water or other liquid,
either directly or indirectly, into the sewer system of said City shall pay
monthly service charges, rates or rentals to the City of Ames, Iowa, in
accordance with the following schedule:
First 5,000 cubic feet or less of water used per month -
10� per 100 cubic feet
All over 5,000 cubic feet of water used per month -
5� per 100 cubic feet.
Section 5. The service charge, rate or rental herein established shall
be due and payable at the office of the City .uditor and Clerk, City Hall,
City of Ames, Iowa, w thin 10 days from the date of billing thereof and to
avoid discrimination and cover the added cost of collecting delinquent bills,
bills not paid within 10 days after being rendered will be increased 5 per cent.
Unpaid service charges, rates or rentals not paid within 30 days after the
bill is rendered therefore shall be delinquent. Such charges, rates or
rentals which are delinquent and unpaid on July 10 of any year may be
certified by the City Clerk and Auditor to the County Auditor of Story
County, Iowa, for collection in the same manner as other taxes."
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith,
particularly Sections 1 and 5 of Ordinance No. 621 are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
