ORDINANCE NO. 708
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 663, PARTICULARLY SECTIO
1 , SECTION 2, SECTION 3, RESPECTIVELY, OF SAID ORDINANCE NO. 663.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section I. That Section 1. "Rate Schedule"; Section 2, "Minimum
Charge", and Secd on 3 of Ordinance No. 663 of the ordinances of the City
of Ames, Iowa, are hereby specifically repealed and that the following shall b
hereinafter known as Section 1, Section 2 and Section 3, respectively, of
Ordinance No. 663:
"Section 1. Rate Schedule. The amount to be charged for the monthly
use of water from each water meter connected to the water supply system
of the City of Ames, Iowa, shall be computed from the following schedule
of net rates:
First 1,000 cubic feet of water used in any one meter reading
interval of approximately 30 days, per 100 cubic feet . . . . . . $0.37
Next 4,000 cubic feet of water used in any one meter reading
interval of approximately 30 days, per 100 cubic feet . . . . . . $0.32
All over 5,000 cubic feet of water used in any one meter
reading interval of approximately 30 days, per 100 cubic feet . .$0.21
The above rates shall be based on the monthly consumption of water
through one meter and no combination of m ter reading shall be used
n computing the amount to be charged.
Section 2. Minimum charge. Each water meter owned by the City and
connected to the city water supply shall return a minimum charge from
monthly reading interval of approximately 30 days or fraction thereof as
follows:

5/8 inch $ 1.25
3/4 inch 1.50
1 inch 2.50
1-1/ 2 inch 5.00
2 inch 7.50
3 inch 15.00
4 inch 25.00
6 inch 37.50
Section 3. The amount to be charged for the use of water from each
water meter connected to the water supply system of the City of Ames,
Iowa, located outside the corporate limits of the City of Ames, Iowa, shall
be computed from the following schedule of net rates:
First 1 ,000 cub:c feet of water used in any one meter reading
interval of approximately 30 days, per 100 cubic feet . . . . . . $0.74
Nex t 4,000 cubic feet of water used in any one meter reading
interval of approximately 30 days, pei• 100 cubic feet . . . . . . $0.32
All over 5,000 cubic feet of water used in any one meter reading
interval of approximately 30 days, per 100 cubic feet . . . . . . $ 0.21
The above rates shall be based on the monthly consumption of water through
one meter and no combination of meter readings shall be used :n computing
the amount to be charged."
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith,
particularly Sections 1, 2 and 3 of Ordinance No. 663, are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and publicat on as provided by law.

certify that the above and foregoing Ordinance No. 708 was duly
and properly passed at a meeting of the City Council on the 7th
day of August, 1951, and published in the Ames Daily Tribune on
