HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amending Certain Sections of Ordinance 592 (Taxicabs) ORDINANCE NO. 668 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 592, PARTICULARLY SECTION 10 and SECTION 15. Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa: Section 1. That Section 10 of Ordinance No. 592 of the City Ordinances of the City of Ames, Iowa, is hereby specifically re- pealed and the following shall be hereinafter known as Section 10 of said Ordinance No. 592: "Section 10. Any person,. firm or corporation obtain- ing a taxicab license, shall be entitled to have set off one parking stand or space where said taxicabs may stand while awaiting calls or passengers, and additional parking stands or spaces for additional taxicabs owned and operated by said person, firm or corporation, as may be authorized by the City Council and in the locations as determined by the City Manager. Such parking spaces shall be assigned by the City Manager, subject, however, to said person, firm or corporation first obtaining written permission from the primary tenant of the land immediately adjacent to the space so desired. The permission so obtained shall be renewed and refiled with the City Manager at the time of renewal of any taxicab license. " Section 2. That Section 15 of Ordinance No. 592 of the City Ordinances of the City of Ames, Iowa, is hereby specifically re- pealed and the following shall be hereinafter known as Section 15 of said Ordinance No. 592: "Section 15. For the purpose of regulating prices chargeable under this ordinance, the City of Ames shall be divided into two zones. Zone l shall comprise the territory within the lst, 2nd and 3rd wards, and Zone 2 shall comprise the territory within the 4th ward. No person, firm or cor- poration operating a taxicab under the provisions of this ordinance shall charge more than the following amounts and prices: (1) The prices charged for taxicab services be- tween any points within Zone 1 shall not exceed the following: For one passenger, 350 For two passengers from same origin and destination, 200 each For three or more passengers from same origin and destination, 150 each (2) The prices charged for taxicab services between any points within Zone 2 shall not exceed the following: For one passenger, 350 For two passengers from same origin and destination, 200 each For three or more passengers from same origin and destination, 150 each (3) The prices charged for taxicab services between Zone 1 and Zone 2 shall not exceed the following: For one passenger, 500 For two passengers from same origin and destination, 300 each For three or more passengers from same origin and destination, 250 each t 2 (4) When two or more passengers are picked up at dif- ferent places or are picked up at the same place and discharge at different places, the one-passenger rate shad apply to each of such passengers . (5) For each trunk carried in connection with a pas- senger, an additional fee of 500 per trunk. (6) For each three minutes or fraction thereof for waiting time, the sum of 10¢ . Waiting time shall mean time consumed while waiting at the direction of a pas- senger. " Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this amendment are hereby repealed. Section 4. This amendment to Ordinance No. 592 of the City Ordinances of the City of Ames, Iowa, shall be in force and effect from and after passage and publication as provided by law.
