AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 646, PARTICULARLY
SECTION 8, MAXIMUM PARKING TIME LIMITS.
Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section 1. That Section 8, Maximum Parking Time Limits, of
Ordinance No. 646 of the City Ordinances of the City of Ames, Iowa,
is hereby specifically repealed and the following shall be herein-
after known as Section 8 of said Ordinance No. 646:
"Section 8. Maximum Parking Time Limits.
(a) In the following places where the stands supporting
the parking meters are painted orange, the maximum parking
time limit shall be twelve (12) minutes, and nothing but
a one-cent coin shall be deposited in said parking meter:
(1) The west side of Douglas Avenue from the
South line of the East and West Alley between
Main Street and Fifth Street to the North line
of Main Street.
(2) Both sides of Kellogg Avenue from the
North line of the East and West Alley between
Main and Fifth Streets to the South line of
Fifth Street.
(b) In all other places where the stands supporting the
parking meters are colored silver, the maximum parking
time limit shall be one hour.
(1) Upon the deposit of a five-cent coin in said
parkin meter, maximum parking time limit shall be
one (1 hour;
(2) Upon the deposit of a one-cent coin in said
parking meter, parking time limit shall be twelve
(12) minutes;
(3) Upon the deposit of two one-cent coins in
said parking meter, parking time limit shall be
twenty-four (24) minutes;
(4) Upon the deposit of three one-cent coins in
said parkin meter, parking time limit shall be
thirty-six N) minutes ;
(5) Upon the deposit of four one-cent coins in said
parkin meter, parking time limit shall be forty-
eight �48) minutes;
(6) Upon the deposit of five one-cent coins in
said parking meter, maximum parking time limit
shall be one (1) hour.
(c) Nothing contained in this section shall be construed
as permitting the operator or any other person to deposit
or cause to be deposited an additional coin or coins for
the purpose of extending the maximum parking time limit. "
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this amendment are hereby repealed.
Section 3 . This amendment to Ordinance No. 646 of the City
Ordinances of the City of Ames, Iowa, shall be in force and effect
from and after passage and publication as provided by law.

certify that the above and foregoing Ordinance No. 664 was duly
and properly passed at a meeting of the City Council on the 6th
day of December, 1948, and published in the Ames Daily Tribune
on the later day of December, 1948.
