HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amending Ordinance No. 542, House Sewer and House Drains ORDINANCE N0. 653 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 542, PARTICULARLY SECTION' 132, MATERIAL, RELATING TO HOUSE SEWER AND HOUSE DRAINS, OF ORDINANCE NO. 542. Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of ,Ames, Iowa: Section 1. That Section 132 of Ordinance No. 542 of the City Ordinances of the City of Ames, Iowa, is specifically repealed and that the following shall be hereafter known as Section 132 of Ordinance No. 542. "Section 132. Material. The house sewer beginning five (5) feet out- side of the inner face of a building wall shall be of 'Standard' or 'Extra Heavy' cast iron bell and spigot pipe joints caulked with molten lead not less than twelve (12) ounces per inch diameter of pipe or of Transite House Connection .pipe or equal, having a minimum wall thickness of three-eights inch (3/8") and tapered coupling joints, provided, however, such Transite House Connectionpipe or equal may be used only in house sewers connected to one and two-family dwellings and the barrel of the pipe is supported throughout its entire length in the trench. "The house drain shall be of lead, brass, copper, or 'Extra Heavy' cast iron. Cast iron shall have the bell and spigot joints caulked with molten lead not less than twelve (12) ounces per inch diameter of pipe." Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this amendment are hereby repealed. Section 3. This amendment to Ordinance No. 542 of the City Ordinances of the City of Ames, Iowa shall be in force and effect from, and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
