HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amending Ordinance 647 (Traffic and Parking) ORDINANCE NO. 652 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 647, AN ORDINANCE REGULATING TRAFFIC AND PARKING ON THE STREETS, AVENUES, ALLEYS AND PUBLIC PLACES OF THE CITY OF AMES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA: Section 1. That City Ordinance No. 647, dated April 12, 1948, is hereby amended by inserting after Section 16 the following sec- tions which shall hereafter be known as Section 16A, Section 16B, Section 16C, and Section 16D: "Section 16A. Municipal Parking Lots . The parking of all vehicles on all week days, except Saturdays between the hours of 8:00 o ' clock a.m. and 6:00 o 'clock p.m. and on Saturdays between the hours of 8:00 o ' clock a.m. and 9:00 o' clock p.m. , shall be limited to ninety (90) minutes in any municipally owned, leased or controlled parking lots and areas, including the following: (a) Municipal parking lot abutting on Fifth Street be- tween Kellogg and Burnett Avenues, more particularly described as Lots Four (4) and Five (5) of Alvord ' s Subdivision of Lots Four (4) and Five (5) in Block Nine (9) Original Town of Ames, Iowa. (b) Municipal parking lot abutting on Fifth Street be- tween Kellogg and Douglas Avenues, more particularly described as an area approximately one hundred (100) feet square, situ- ated in the southeast corner of the real estate described as Lots Six (6) and Seven (7) in Block Eight (8) Original Town of Ames, Iowa. Section 16B. Parked Vehicle . The term 'parked' shall apply to any vehicle which is stopped on a street or municipally owned, leased, or controlled parking lot, whether occupied or not. Section 16C . Stalls and Sections . Where now or hereafter stalls or sections may be marked or painted upon the surface of any municipally owned, leased or controlled parking lot, it shall be the duty of the driver or operator of any vehicle to park the same within the limits of one of the said stalls or sections and not over or across said lines . Section 16D. Putting glass, etc . on Municipal Parking Lots . No person shall throw or deposit upon any municipally owned, leased or controlled parking lot, any glass bottles, glass, nails, tacks, wire, cans, or any other substance likely to in- jure any person, animal, or vehicle . " Section 2. Conflicting Ordinances . Any ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent or in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 3. Ordinance in Effect. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after passage and publication as provided by law. Passed this 9th day of August, 1948. I a_ -2, City Clerk W. L.
