HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Prohibiting Animals to Run at Large ORDINANCE NO. 623 An Ordinance prohibiting animals or fowl to run at large for a limited period of time and providing a penalty for the violation thereof. WHEREAS, The Cite/ Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, is co- operating in a campaign of rat extermination and for the protection and promotion of health and to prevent the destruction of property, and WHEREAS, The methods to be employed for such purpose may be injurious to domestic animals and foods if permitted to run at large, and WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, .desires to afford the utmost protection and to take the necessary pre- cautions against any injury to domestic animals or fowl : BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa: Section 1. Running at Large. That it shall be unlawful from and including the 21st day of October, 1946, to end including the 2nd day of November, 1946, for the owner or any person in charge of any domestic animal or foul of any kind to permit the same to run at large over the streets, alleys, highways, public grounds of said city or the private property of others. Section 2. Limited Period. This ordinance shall be effectiv during said period notwithstanding the provisions of any other ordinance of said city. Section 3. Penalty. Anyone violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be subject to imprison- ment not exceeding thirty days or to a fine not exceeding 0100,00. Whenever the fine and costs imposed for the violation of this ordinance are not paid tie person convicted may be committed to ,jail until the fine and costs are paid not exceeding thirty days. Section 4. This ordinance shall be in force and effect from and of#er its passage and publication as provided by law. Passed and approved this 7th day of October, 1946. Mayor Attest: City Clerk I: J.
