Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa:
Section 1. he City Solicitor shall give his legal opinion
I
upon all questions of law arisinp, out of any ordinances, si.ilts,
cic�ims or demands for or a�,ainst"the City, and shall give such
opinion in writing unless otherwise so rcouested, w1nich said
opinion shall be filed and "reserved amon,U,, the records of the
City Clerk.
Section 2. He shall act as legal
I advisor to all city
Officials, boards and commissions as far as their or its official
duties are concerned, nyhen requested to do so by said officials,
boards and commissions.
Section 3. He shall resort to the City Council any defects
that he may discover in any Ordinance, the
shall draw such
ordinances as he may be requested by the City Council or the
Ordinance Committee thereof.
Section 4. He shall, when directed to do so by any city
Official, board or comr,,iisslon, draw all contracts between the city
and other pf-�,rties, prosecute and defend all suits or other 'matters !
in Vilch the city shall be a party, including violations of city
ordinonces, take appeals in such cases as the Interest of the City
requires, and prosecute or defend the City' s interest in all the
courts of the State and of the United Stc-.ites

Council and paid as other claims.
Section 8. He shall receive a retainer of ,AOO,00 per
month as full compenstntion for all trials In the Municipal Court

. of ordl-nances, fo::� 6,ttendance at the meetings
of the City Council, for all opinions rendered to the Council,
city officials, boards and commissions, for the drawing of contractq
to which the City is a .,-)arty, and for the ,,)reparation of ordinances
and resolutions.
Section 9. For all other services rendered other than those
sr)ecified In Section 8, he shall receive a reasonable fee for his
services, which fee shall be passed upon and paid 1-i the s,-:�ie
mnlnner as other claims.
3ection 10. Ordinances No. 329 and 415 and all other
ordinan es or narts of ordinances in co-flict herewith are
hereby repealed.
Section 11. T-ils ordinance shall be of full force and
