AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO o 480, PARTICULARLY SECTIONS
130 190 20v 42 and 48.
Be it Ordained by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa;
Section 1. That Section 13 of Ordinance No. 480 of the City
Ordinances of the City of Ames, Iowa is hereby specifically re-
pealed and that the following shall be hereinafter known as
Section 13 of Ordinance No. 480:
Section 13. Limited Parking - Ninety Minutes.
The parking of vehicles on all week days, except Satur-
day between the hours of 8s00 o'clock a.m. and 6:00
o'clock p.m., and on Saturdays between the hours of
8:00 o'clock a.m. and 9:00 o'clock p.m., shall be
limited to ninety (go) minutes in the following places:
(a) Main Street from Duff Avenue to Burnett Avenues
(b) Douglas Avenue from Main Street to Sixth Street.
(a) Kellogg Avenue from the north line of the Co &
N. W. Ry. Co.'s Hight of Way to Sixth Street.
(d) Burnett Avenue from Main Street to Sixth Street,
(e) Lincoln Nay from Stanton Avenue to Hayward Avenue.
(f) Wash Avenue from Lincoln Nay to Chamberlain Street*
(g) Fifth Street from 'Douglas Avenue to Wilson Avenue.
Section S. That Section 1.9 of Ordinance No. 480 of the City
Ordinances of the City of Ames, Iowa is hereby specifically re-
pealed and that the following shall be hereinafter known as
Section 19 of Ordinance ado. 480:
Section 19. Through Highways. The following
streets within the City of Ames, Iowa, are hereby
designated and established as through highways, and
every operator of a` vehicle ;shall bring -such vehicle
to a full stop at the stop sign or at a clearly said
stop line before entering such through highway except
when directed to proceed by a police officer or traffic
control signal.;
(a) Grand Avenue from the north corporate limits
to its intersection with Lincoln Way.
(b) Lincoln Way from the east to west corporate limits*
(a) South Duff Avenue from the soh corporate limits
to its intersection with Lincoln Say.
(d) Ninth Street from the east line of Carroll
Avenue to the west line of Ridgewood Avenue.
(e) Snapp Street from Lynn Avenue to Hayward Avenue.
(f) Thirteenth Street from Maxwell Avenue to Crescent
Avenue with the exception of grand Avenue.
(g) West Street from Sheldon Avenue to Campus Avenue.

Section 3. That Section 80 of Ordinance No* 480 of the City
Ordinances of the City of Ames, Iowa is hereby specifically
pealed and that the following shall be hereinafter known as
Section 20 of Ordinance No. 480:
Section 20. Intersecting Through Highways. At the
intersections of through highways all traffic on the
highway 0r street as designated below shall come to a
fall stop at the stop sign or at a clearly marked stop
line before entering the intersection except when directed
to proceed by a police officer or traffic control device;
(a) Grand Avenue and Ninth Street. Traffic on
Ninth Street to stop before entering Grand Avenge.
(b) Lincoln lay and South Duff Avenue. Traffic on
South Duff Avenue to stop before entering Lincoln Nape
(e) Thirteenth Street and Grand Avenue. Traffic
on Thirteenth Street to stop before entering Grand Avenue.
(d) Grand Avenue and Lincoln Way. Traffic on the east
wing of Grand Avenue to stop before entering Lincoln Way,
Section 4e That Section 42 of Ordinance No. 480 of the City
Ordinances of the City of Ames, Iowa is hereby specifically re-
pealed and that the following s hall be hersinaf ter knihm as
Section 42 of Ordinance No. 480:
Section 42. "U* Turns. Vehicles are hereby pro-
hibited from making a complete or "U" turn within the
Limits of the following designated street intersections:
(a) Douglas .Avenue and Main Street.
(b) Kellogg Avenue and Main Street.
(a) Harnett Avenue and Bain Street.
(d) Welch Avenue and Lincoln Way.
(a) Duff Avenue and Lincoln May.
(f) Fifth Street and Douglas Avenue.
(g) Fifth Street and Kellogg Avenue.
(h) Fifth Street and Burnett Avenue.
(i ) Grand Avenue and Lincoln Way.
Section 8. That Section 45 of Ordinance No. 480 of the City
Ordinances of the City of Ames, Iowa is hereby specifically re
pealed and that the following shall be hereinafter known as
Section 45 of Ordinance No. 480:
Section 45. Turning Left at Intersection. The driver
of a vehicle within an intersection intending to turn to
the left shall yield the right of way to any vehicle approach-
ing from the opposite direction which is within the internee-
tion or so close thereto as to 'constitute an immediate bazars.,
but said driver, having so yielded and having given a signal
when and as required by this Ordinance, may make such left
turn, and ItSe drivers of all other"hehicles approaching
the intersection from said opposite direction shall 'field
the right of wag to the vehicle making the left turn, pro-
vided, however, that no left turns shall be made by South
bound traffic at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Fifth Street*
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the
provisions of this amendment are hereby repealed.
This amendment to ordinance No. 480 of the City ordinances of
the City of Ames, Iowa, shall be in force and effect from and
after its passage and p ublication as provided by law.
