268.5 feet North to walk in place at Coles lot. A plat ( L. 10) in January
1908 shows profiles along Pike Street from Boone Street to West Street.
Pike scales about 60 feet wide. Plat (Be 2) in November 1900 shows 330
feet from centerline of Pike to Nast edge of Hyland. A later plat shows j
3 feet added to lots along lkst line of $gland in block North of West St.
In 1907 a sidewalk was built on South side of Boone Street East from
what is now Sheldon Avenue. The corner stone was in place in the center-
line of Boone Street and Pike at that time. The walk was built 33 feet
South from centerline of Boone Street through stone.
In 1917 the stone was not found and an iron pin was set establishing
the intersection of Lincoln Way and Sheldon, using measurements from a stone
at Harland and Boone and from the walk in place on South side of Lincoln Way.
Cook replaced the iron pin with a ford axle in August 1919. The survey notes
show Lincoln Apartments to be 1.551 in Sheldon in 1917 and 1919 field books.
In June 1921 the corner was moved, it was decided "since the position
of the axle on a North and South line was so indefinite", etc. Moved 0.41.
The Northwest angle at intersection of Lincoln Way and Pike was
890 061 in 1899. It is now 890 081, showing that the corner has traveled
Westward.
