For clarification, If I am reading your email correctly, all three (including the change(s) to Chapter 29)will go to Council
on November 24. If that is the case, I would need to publish the Notice of Hearing pertaining to Chapter 29 in the Trib
prior to the P & Z meeting of November 18.

Subject: Municipal Code Text amendments related to Guest Lodging
Diane,good morning.
We are planning on taking the Zoning Ordinance edits to P&Z on November 18 and then the complete package of all text
amendments related to Guest Lodging to City Council on November 24 (including Chapter 35 and 13).
PZ noticing should read something like this:
TEXT AMENDMENTS TO THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO ADDRESS CHANGES IN STATE LAW RELATED TO
SHORT-TERM RENTALS (GUEST LODGING)
CC noticing should read something like this:
TEXT AMENDMENTS TO THE AMES MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 13 (RENTAL HOUSING CODE), CHAPTER 29
(ZONING ORDINANCE) & CHAPTER 35 (GUEST LODGING CODE)TO ADDRESS CHANGES IN STATE LAW
RELATED TO SHORT-TERM RENTALS AND REPEALING THE FEE FOR LICENSURE
We are trying to address changes to the Code before current Guest Lodging Licenses start expiring. However, the first
will expire on December 13, 2020. Therefore, we wish to expedite the process-when it is OK to do so-
BTW- I maintain a listing of emails for all licensed Guest Lodging properties and any indicting interest but who are not
licensed. I will be sending out an email to them to alert them of the proposed changes and meeting schedule.
Kind regards,
