Back to your original question, on the Plan revision, I need to publish at least seven days prior to the
hearing; the Tribune needs additional days for processing. I would like to send it to the Tribune on March
13 for publishing on March 17. That gives me ten days.
For the new URAs and Plans, publication has to be at least 30 days prior to the hearing. I would prefer to
send those to the Tribune by next Monday, February 20,for publishing on February 24.

described by the attached legal description and map to be called the East University-Impacted Urban
Revitalization Area and enactment of an ordinance to designate the land as an urban revitalization area.
This ordinance and plan,if enacted,will allow owners of real estate within the Area to apply for partial
abatement of additional property tax caused by future improvements to the property under the following
conditions:
1. The existing building was used as a residence by an organization recognized by Iowa State
University as a part of its"Greek"system, and
2. The improvements leave this building substantially intact, and
3. Original or historic materials and designs on the building exterior are preserved and/or restored.
The proposed East University-Impacted Urban Revitalization Area and Plan do not affect other
properties that do not meet these conditions, nor do they affect properties that are not improved.
You are welcome to attend the public hearing and ask questions or make comments regarding these
actions.

REVITALIZATION AREA WITH RESPECT TO THE EAST
UNIVERSITY-IMPACTED URBAN REVITALIZATION
AREA
BE IT RESOLVED,by the City Council for the City of Ames,Iowa,that the City Council
shall hold a public hearing on March 28, 2006 , on a proposal to establish an Urban
Revitalization District and adopt an Urban Revitalization Plan with respect to the site described as
the East University Impacted Urban Revitalization Area, and more fully described on the attached
Addendum.
