AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AND REGULATING RATES TO BE CHARGED
FOR GAS IN THE CITY OF AMES, IOTPA.
Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa.
Section 1. That the rates to be charged for gas in the City
of Ames, Iowa., from and after the 1st day of March, 1932, are
hereby fixed and established as follows;
1. For the first 3000 cubic feet or less used in
one month $1.60 per 1000 cubic feet.
2. For the next 5000 cubic feet or less used in
one month $1.45 per 1000 cubic feet.
3. For all excess of 8000 cubic feet used in
one month $1.25 per 1000 cubic feet.
Section 2. A minimum (net) charge of $1.00 per month per
meter is hereby authorized.
Section 3. The rates and charges set forth in Sections 1 and
2 hereof are net. Bills not paid within 10 days after rendition
shall be increased 104, on the first $10.00 and 2% on amounts in
excess of the first $10.00.
Section 4. The gas furnished shall have a total heating
value of not less than 525 British Thermal Units per cubic foot,
with an allowable daily variation of 2% either way. In case the
monthly average falls below 525 British Thermal Units five (50)
cents per 1000 cubic feet for each 10 British Thermal Units or
fraction thereof shall be deducted from the established rates.
Section 5. That any utility furnishing gas in the City of
Ames shall upon the application of persons desirous of using
gas furnish the service from the main pipe to the lot line with-
out cost or expense to the consumer, but from the lot line a
charge not exceeding 250 per lineal foot may be made for pipe so
laid. Said utility may charge the consumer $1.00 for setting of
gas meter when service starts.
Section 6. Rates may be made with consumers other and different
from those set forth herein, provided all consumers desiring
service under similar conditions shall have the privilege of the
same rate, which rate shall first be approved by the City* Council.
Section 7. Any person, firm, or corporation violating any
provision of this ordinance shall upon conviction thereof be
fined a sum not exceeding $100.00 and costs.
Section 8. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 9. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
after its passage and publication as provided by law.
