Subject: Parking Ordinance Update on McKinley Drive
Thank you for your communication about the proposed changes in parking along
McKinley Drive. We agree that a new ordinance is necessary.
My husband and I live at 1407 McKinley Drive and have a concern about the hours that
the ordinance will be in effect. Our property is on the corner of McKinley Drive and
VanBuren and if we understand the proposed ordinance correctly, we would no longer
be able to park in front of our property on McKinley Drive at any time. Will the proposed
ordinance be in effect ALL hours or just during school hours? If it is in effect all hours,
our concern is that our friends and family will no longer be able to park in front of our
home when we have family events and get togethers. We have three daughters and
their spouses and eight grandchildren within 10 miles of us. There is hardly a day that
one of them doesn't stop by and park along the curb in front of our home. We also have
a truck/travel trailer and need to park in front of our home temporarily when we
load/unload and fill it with water prior to camping trips.
We would be agreeable to having the parking prohibited during school days/hours,
especially during drop off/pick up times along the north side of McKinley Drive but feel it
would be a hardship for property owners along the north side of McKinley Drive if it is in
effect ALL hours.
