HomeMy WebLinkAboutA003 - Email from Mayor August 6, 2018 Hardship Ordinance reconsideration John Haila to: Diane R Voss 08/06/2018 04:03 PM Cc: Steve Schainker, Mark Lambert,Ames City Council Diane, I understand that several council members have expressed the desire in having council consideration of the mayoral"hardship ordinance"veto placed on the agenda for the August 14th council meeting. Only In the interest in minimizing the inconvenience (to council and the general public) of holding a special council meeting just to place this on the upcoming 8/14 agenda; or holding a special council meeting late next week (post 8/14)to take this item up; respecting the desire of some council members to see this placed on the agenda as soon as possible; wanting to respect the time of the council and those of the general public who may want to attend the meeting(s)where this issue is reconsidered; and that only the mayor or city manager(outside of 4 council members requesting an item be placed on a future council agenda during a council meeting); I am requesting that this"reconsideration topic/issue/item" (you had the specific verbiage that needs to be used) be placed on the August 14th regular council agenda. My request reflects my commitment(as expressed in my closing paragraph of my 8/1 letter to council) to continuing to work together as council to achieve a successful resolution of this situation. John A. Haila / Mayor City of Ames 515-239-5105 (main) 515 Clark Ave. Ames, IA 50010
