HomeMy WebLinkAboutA031 - Email from Craig and Sue Weiss dated July 17, 0218 f Requesting/listening to public input AmesCityCouncil@city.ames.ia.us, Sue Weiss to: 07/17/2018 11:20 AM AmesCityCouncil@city.ames.ia.us Please respond to"Sue Weiss" Although our Westside neighborhood overwhelmingly provided feedback that we did not want to be included in the rental cap, we were still included because of your fears that our neighborhood would change. Well, if you amend the Hardship Exception Ordinance to prevent the transfer of LOC's upon sales of rental properties, you would cause a drastic change in our neighborhood. And not for the"better".The bright, young college students living in Westside's 96 rental houses bring energy and diversity to our neighborhood and we would hate to see them pushed out. And a domino effect would ensue. If the 682 rental properties in the 7 rental cap neighborhoods average 3 renters per unit, then 2,046 renters would be pushed out to other Ames neighborhoods(ones that might not be as welcoming as our Westside neighborhood). Please do not amend the Hardship Exception Ordinance to prevent the transfer of LOC's upon the sale of a property. Sincerely, Craig&Sue Weiss
