MOTION BY: Nelson SECOND BY: Corrieri VOTING AYE: Beatty-Hanson, Betcher, Corrieri, Gartin, Martin,Nelson VOTING NAY: None ABSENT: None By: Diane Voss, City Clerk Electronically Sent to: Sara Van Meeteren ANOMEARSET April 9,2018 Mayor John Haila and Ames City Council Ames City Hall 515 Clark Avenue Ames, IA 50010 Dear Mayor Haila and Council Members: I am writing on behalf of the Somerset Property Owners'Association. The Board met last Fall and discussed signage in Somerset parks/green areas. It was discovered that there are signs identifying each park in the development except for two. Those green spaces are: The Corner Lawn located at the corner of Northridge Parkway and Stange Road Somerset Lawn located at the intersection of Kingston,Sheffield and Clayton The Board decided we would like to have signage in those park areas matching signs in other green spaces in Somerset. In the process of applying for sign permits for those two areas,we found that the code does not allow for private park signs. We believe that identification of an area provides for a safer environment. I am attaching a picture of the sign that we would like to place in those areas. We are asking that a text amendment be made to the sign regulations to allow identifying signage on private park properties. Please'refer this to staff so that the process can be started to make this minor change. Thank you for your consideration of our request. Respectfully submitted Donna Scherr, President Somerset Property Owners'Association Encl. i i SOMERSET ,
