HomeMy WebLinkAboutA003 - Email correspondence requesting change to agenda order Page 1 of 4 Re: Fw: Agenda Request John Haila to: Law Clerk 05/21/2018 02:59 PM Cc: Diane R Voss, Steve Schainker Hide Details From: John Haila/COA To: "Law Clerk" <clerk@carneylawfinniowa.com> Cc: Diane R Voss/COA@COA, Steve Schainker/COA@COA Dillon, The City Clerk forwarded your request on to me. We will not make any changes to the order of the agenda. You state in your email that "...we have been placed on the agenda...". I am assuming you mean your topic of interest is on the agenda. We do not place people on the agenda who request to speak/offer public comment on a specific topic. They are invited to speak at the appropriate time during which the item is taken up by council. As a follow up to our conversation this morning, for item 37. the only public comment allowed will be regarding the minor changed made to the ordinance, specifically limited to adding 4 bedrooms and adding pang spaces required for 4 bedrooms in residential mix use developments. No other public comment will be allowed on the STANDARDS portion of the ordinance, including public comment relative to REZONING. So as a footnote, if it was your expectation to address council during Item 37, it will be allowed to but it will be strictly limited to the 4 bedroom issue alluded to above. Item 42 is a public hearing on REZONING of the area. Public input specifically addressing the rezoning will be allowed. Thus if your firm wishes to address council on the STANDARDS ORDINANCE (Item 37) it will need to be done in writing, unless it pertains to the 4 bedroom portion of the ordinance. As you and I discussed this morning, submission of a letter by the end of the business day today is preferred to allow council time to read through it this evening. It is likely that receipt late tomorrow afternoon may result in your communication not being read. I also typically limit public comment to no more than 5 minutes. So if your firm wishes to speak to council regarding Item 42, the public hearing will be the time. I file:///C:/Users/diane.voss/AppData/Local/Temp/notesFFF692/—web1011.htm 5/21/2018 Page 2 of 4 will request that comments respect the 5 minute time allotment John A.
