RE: Rezoning of 710 S. Duff Avenue
Dear Mayor Campbell and the Ames City Council:
I am writing on behalf of Boston Commons Ames, LLC, which owns the property located at 806 S. Duff
Avenue. U-Haul has requested the City to rezoning the property located at 710 S. Duff Avenue from
Agricultural to Highway-Oriented Commercial. This request will be considered by the Council on
February 24, 2015.
As you know, the City has been working with the Iowa Department of Transportation and the property
owners along this portion of Duff Avenue in connection with the South Duff Access Project. If a traffic
signal and medians are installed under this project, a series of private easements will need to be created
and the driveways will need to be constructed in order to provide all of the properties access to the
signalized intersection.
This letter will serve to inform you that Boston Commons Ames,LLC supports the rezoning requested by
U-Haul provided that such rezoning is expressly conditioned upon U-Haul providing easements and
constructing driveways through its property to facilitate access to the traffic signal anticipated under the
South Duff Access Project from 806 S. Duff Avenue and the other adjoining properties.
