Good Morning,
I am writing in regards to a post placed in the Ames People group on Facebook by Tim Gartin
pertaining to the vote to repeal the municipal code regulating touching at the bikini bar in Ames.
have always felt that the ordinance as it is written and had been enforced was unfair to the young
women working at the establishment. The community's desire to protect the women working at the
club is an admirable and desirable one. I do not feel that the ordinance served that purpose though,
but in fact unduly harmed those who the ordinance was supposed to protect, the performers. That
being said, I know that this current situation has little to do with law reform in regards to exotic
dancing in Ames, but more to do with reacting to municipal code deemed invalid due to State law. To
that issue I support the repealing of the ordinance that has been overturned and no further action
taken by the city government.
Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration on this issue.
Regards,
David Faux
