Schedule
1 Developer submits draft of Adaptive Reuse Application JUNE 7
for "courtesy review"by the DRC (completed)
2 CC determines whether the Roosevelt School meets the JUNE 11
criteria in the Code of Iowa Chapter 404.1, to establish (completed)
an urban revitalization area
3 If CC determines that the Roosevelt School site meets JUNE 11
the criteria in Chapter 404.1, then the CC decides upon a (completed)
policy establishing qualifying criteria, in addition to the
Chapter 404.1 criteria
4 Major Site Development Plan distributed for DRC JUNE 12
"courtesy review" to determine whether the Plan is in (completed)
compliance with adopted City codes and policies, prior to
consideration by the CC
5 Planning staff meets with the applicant to discuss JUNE 28
changes to the Major Site Development Plan and/or (completed)
additional information needed before the formal
application is submitted
6 Developer revises the Major Site Development Plan to TBD
address DRC comments and submits the revised Plan to
DRC to determine if all DRC comments have been
addressed

7 Developer submits formal Adaptive Reuse Application JULY 29
and Urban Revitalization Application following approval
of zoning text amendments and rezoning of the property
at 921 9t" Street (former Roosevelt School)
8 P&Z conducts a public hearing and makes their AUGUST 7
recommendation on the Major Site Development Plan for
Adaptive Reuse to the City Council
9 HPC conducts a public hearing and makes their AUGUST 12
recommendation on the Major Site Development Plan for
Adaptive Reuse and the Urban Revitalization Plan to the
City Council
10 CC approves an Adaptive Reuse Plan, including the AUGUST 27
Major Site Development Plan for the Roosevelt School
site.
CC takes action to : 1) approve that the proposed project
meets the Urban Revitalization Criteria established by
the CC; 2) directs staff to prepare an Urban
Revitalization Plan, and 3) sets the date of public hearing � rc
on establishing the project site as an Urban
Revitalization Area and approving a URA Area Plan for
that site.
The Major Site Development Plan, architectural floor
plans and elevations, and other requirements as
determined by the CC then serve as the URA Plan.
State law requires 30 days prior notice for this hearing.
11 Staff prepares the URA Plan which is sent to the City TBD
Clerk to be available for public review

12 City Clerk publishes Notice of Hearing in the Ames SEPTEMBER
Tribune at least 34 days prior to the hearing date tl
13 The City Clerk sends public notice to owners and
residents of the subject property at least 30 days prior to a1lC�rl1ST 3
the hearing date.
14 The CC conducts a public hearing on the URA Plan, OCTOBER 8 ,
passes a resolution approving the Plan, and approves f
the first reading of an ordinance establishing the URA.
15 2 nd reading of ordinance (unless the CC suspends the OCTOBER 22
rules and waives the 2nd and 3rd readings) J\
16 3rd reading of ordinance (unless the CC suspends the NOVEMBER 12
rules and waives the second and third readings)
