HomeMy WebLinkAboutA003 - Email from City Clerk dated May 30, 2013 Code Change RE: Rental Housing - Non-Compliant Conditions Diane R Voss to: Dept Legal 05/30/2013 11:26 AM Bcc: Diane R Voss _ Diane R Voss Code Change RE: Rental Housing-Non-Compliant Conditions At the Council's meeting of May 28, staff was directed to draft an ordinance to modify Municipal Code Section 13.402(3)(f) by removing the June 30, 2013, deadline and allow Retroactive Conversion Permits, Board Variances, or administrative approvals to continue"through the first rental cycle." I checked with Building Official Seana Perkins, and that particular section of our Code does have references to the Iowa Code and the International Building Code. Therefore, it is required that we adopt the ordinance within 30 days of the hearing. I assume that I also need to publish notice of the hearing; although I can't find anything "cut and dried"that states that requirement. I am also assuming that it would follow the 4-and-20 rule for publishing. Please advise if my assumptions are correct. Since we need to get the new ordinance adopted prior to the deadline of June 30, 2013, 1 would need to send the Notice to the Tribune today for the June 11 meeting. It would publish on June 4, and I would need the ordinance by the date the notice publishes. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. ni le s Diane R.
